Sergio Chuc Says Supporters Will Not Show Up to ‘Rigged’ Election

The F.F.B. has since brought in CONCACAF to oversee the election process, but Chuc expects to throw a wrench in that process.  Now, seven associations with two votes each make up seventy percent of the voting; the other thirty percent is represented by the league, all in all a total of twenty votes will determine who will be the next president.  According to Chuc, three associations as well as the league have signed a letter committing to transparency and fair play, and are asking regional CONCACAF to stop or restart the process.

“Remember that for there to be a proper congress, there must be fifty plus one percent of the members attending the congress. So far, I am at liberty to say that about sixty percent of the people who are voting have said that they don’t like the idea that my candidacy was thrown out on these charges; that they are prepared not to go to Congress. So the only next move I see possible at this time, the quickest one, would be for these voters not to attend congress. And so we have the pledge of sixty percent that they will not be attending the congress. The next step is going to the Court of Arbitration for Sports in Switzerland. We’ve actually already started the process; we’ve contacted Attorney David Larkin who is a specialist on sports law and has dealt with several cases with FIFA. He is from out of Washington D.C. and he is gathering the information right now on seeing what chances we have. However, it is clear that the process will take anywhere from six months to a year to be resolved. So at this stage we are hoping that the congress members would do the right thing and not just show up to this rigged election.”
