O.W. Man Shot Dead in Corozal Tuesday Night

Before the gruesome discovery of Lopez and Orozco, the body of a third murder victim was found.  He is a twenty-one-year-old Orange Walk resident who was shot and killed in the Dominguez Layout area of Corozal on Tuesday night.  According to his mother, Brandon Lee Tesecum had been receiving death threats since last week.  Those messages, she believes, stem from an incident involving his siblings who were reportedly involved in an altercation with a group of men.  At approximately eleven p.m., the young man was on his way home along the San Antonio/San Andres Road when he was waylaid and fired upon by someone who emerged from the nearby bushes.  Four bullets made their mark on Tesecum’s head causing his immediate demise.  Corozal police say they are exploring all leads in this latest homicide, including the threats made against Tesecum.

“Sometime just before eleven o’clock, the quiet residence of Dominguez Layout, residents called in relation to shots being fired in that area.  Just prior to that caller, a patrol vehicle was in that area some fifteen or twenty minutes before, so the call was directed to that mobile and the mobile turned back and upon turning back they saw a male person lying face down with what appeared to be gunshot wounds to the face in a pool of blood.  A family member was on the scene who identified the person to be Brandon Tesecum, twenty-one-years-old of that said area.  Basically from Orange Walk but living in that area.”

“There is word that Brandon may have been involved in an ongoing dispute with either an individual or a group of individuals and that as recent as sometime last week, according to a member of the family, his life had been threatened.  What are your investigations pointing to at this juncture?”

Sr. Supt. Dennis Arnold

“Well, so far we have picked up that same information and last night from a family member, but the police have nothing to substantiate what the family member is saying because no report had been made.”

“What are residents saying, apart from them alerting the department that there was a shooting incident in Dominguez Layout, have they given a description of the individual.  Have they been able to assist in any kind of actionable way for the department?”

Sr. Supt. Dennis Arnold

“No.  What happened is that they just heard the shots and they called the police.  Apparently, from police investigations, the victim was walking from the direction of CCC towards Dominguez Layout and his attacker was laying in wait for him in the bushes.  So whilst at the scene we had recovered five expended shells, four from near the body and one from in the bushes that we had suspected that the culprit was hiding.”
