Kendis Flowers Charged for Shooting at Police Officers

Well-known street figure Kendis Flowers appeared in court today where he was arraigned for the attempted murder of two police officers. According to police, Flowers fired as many as five shots at two Police Constables in the early hours of Sunday morning. The officers had to seek cover and escaped uninjured. The incident happened on Sunday, but it wasn’t until today Flowers was charged and appeared in court. Police said that it took a few days to charge Flowers because they wanted to ensure that they were thorough in their investigation considering two of their officers were involved.  They interviewed persons in the area to make sure that they had a full account of what happened and gathered sufficient information to bring charges. Police told us how the incident happened.

“On Sunday, the twenty eight of May 2017, sometime after 4 in the morning, Police Constable #1600 Raphael Flower and Police Constable #205 Wayne Dawson were doing patrols in the Mayflower Area; which is exactly on the corner of Vernon Street and Mayflower where the checkpoint is located. During a stay at that location there, they observed two male persons arguing that is by the Police tent on Mayflower Street; they proceeded to that location to see what was happening. During their arrival they saw two male persons – one they know as Kendis Flowers and another male person. Police Flowers and Dawson went and separated them. An argument ensued between Kendis Flowers and police officers, and thereafter, Kendis Flowers allegedly run inside to his yard and there after Police heard two shots fired in the area. Police Officers run to cover behind a lamp post that is at the corner of Mayflower and Vernon Street. While taking cover, Police saw when Kendis Flowers came out of his yard and fired five shots towards their direction. However, nobody was injured. During the shooting, Police responded likewise and fired three shots from his issued Police 9mm pistol which damaged a house that is in the nearby area causing bullet hole to the front door and to the back of the house which landed on another cement wall behind a house.”

“At the scene Police recovered a 9mm expended shell, so we suspect that a 9mm pistol that was used for the shooting.”


Flowers was denied bail today and remanded to prison until September of this year.
