Barrow Declares It Will Not Happen Again
The use of the boats, says the prime minister, isn’t a decision that he would have taken; however, he says that Saldivar will not be using those vessels for future private excursions.
Prime Minister Dean Barrow
“My own opinion, my own sense of what ought to be done and what ought not be done differs from that of the minister.”

“You wouldn’t have done it.”
Prime Minister Dean Barrow
“I wouldn’t have done it, but I respect the, as I said, genuineness of his feeling that it was okay. And, Lord, even if you don’t agree with him it’s not, I almost said not a federal offense, but since the U.S. is involved let me not use that terminology. It’s not anything to, in my view, keep going on about. The minister certainly knows now that that cannot be done again. Certainly from the point of view of the government, I regret that this in fact developed into a sort of incident, but indeed let us go forward knowing that that sort of use is now absolutely and completely off the table.”
