Orange Walk Baby Crushed in Traffic Accident

Lindsey Babb

Three-year-old Lindsey Babb lost her life this morning during a horrifying traffic mishap in Orange Walk Town.  The toddler was being transported on a motorcycle driven by her father, thirty-three-year-old Eulalio Babb, when he was overtaken by a Bowen & Bowen delivery truck in the vicinity of Liberty Avenue.  The sudden impact upon being passed, flung Babb and his daughter off the motorcycle, the child falling beneath the rear wheel of the moving vehicle.  Baby Lindsey’s skull was crushed and she perished at the site of the accident.  The driver of the Coca-Cola truck, identified as twenty-four-year-old Irvin Leal, reportedly kept driving, but was eventually stopped by residents who witnessed the incident.  This afternoon, we spoke by phone with the grieving father.  Eulalio Babb explained in great detail the accident as it transpired.

On the Phone: Eulalio Babb, Father of Deceased Toddler

“I got up this morning, changed my daughter’s clothes, gave her food and everything.  My daughter said she loved me and told me that she wanted juice.  I told her that I would buy it for her.  I was going to Liberty Avenue and then the Coca-Cola truck just overtook me to a curve, knocked me down and the same time my daughter fly and the wheel went right over my daughter’s head and ih mash my daughter head right in front of me and everything and di man neva wahn stop.  He done mi di look fu go but di people stopped him and thing and the man come down and thing.  He noh talk to me or nothing and he actually laughed when he see my daughter on the ground.  The brains were out and I don’t know what else to say.  It’s difficulty and it hurts me a lot.  She is my smaller one and I had already bought her uniform to go to school and she was going to school very soon.  Everything totally planned and now this has happened.  It’s a shock to me right now.”

Sorry for your loss, but no person in their right mind should have anyone that young on a bike or motorcycle. Both driver and parents should be given jailtime for their stupidity.

This is so sad! I can’t imagine the pain the family is going through. I am a parent and I wouldn’t wish this for no parent. May her soul rest in peace!
