Rural Eastern Division Works on Office Upgrades

Rural Eastern Division of the Police Department is making changes to their headquarters in Ladyville, Belize District to allow for greater space for officers to do their work. Both Government and the private sector are contributing to building an attachment to the building currently hosting the commander’s office as well as a new detention center to free space for the domestic violence unit. Regional Commander ACP Edward Broaster provides further details.

“The project that we are doing right now is the briefing meeting and training room for the police officers of Ladyville and the other construction that we have in the pipeline is a sally port, a brand new detention center which will allow us free up space for the domestic violence unit. We have split the construction of the new section in the front into two—one being the waiting room and one being the officer commanding Ladyville [office] so that we can make space available for privacy in terms of recording of statements from the public.”

“How are you guys financing this operation?”

ACP Edward Broaster

“This construction and the projects we have in the pipeline is a testament to the partnership between the public and the private sector. We got some funding from the government of Belize as well as the private sector who has been working with us very graciously, I might add, in enabling us to do these necessary improvements in Rural Eastern Division.”
