Donations Continue to Pour in for Majestic Alley Fire Victims

It has been two weeks since a fire tore through four homes in the Majestic Alley and displaced fifty-one persons.  The families have been living in temporary housing and have been receiving assistance through NEMO, the Belize Red Cross, Human Development and the business community.  Today more assistance arrived for the families as B.T.L. and Radisson stepped up with furniture and gift certificates, respectively.

“We right away went to City Council and said we think we can do something. The staff the Radisson and Management were very keen on doing something both on behalf of the hotel and the staff. So, Mister Willoughby and I had a conversation; Mister Trapp was involved and  what we did based on the consultations we got some certificates from Bottom Dollar for each family member; not just the family; but the family members because there are a broad spectrum of needs. And then there are canned goods that are still being compiled that will be distributed by City Council. So, on behalf of the Radisson, we just want to let you know that we are trying to do something.”

Ingrid Juarez, Sr. PR Rep., B.T.L

“I am here today to present the families with another part of our contribution. Earlier this week we donated care packages to these families to ensure that everyone had items they needed in their homes. Also, we contributed school packs to twenty children who are attending school presently. This we did in partnership with Swami’s and Angelus Press. The Angelus Press partnered with B.T.L. so that each child had a school bag and also stationeries and all things they need in them. Swami’s in partnership with B.T.L. provided two uniforms free of cost to each child attending school. And today we are here to further our donation with some tables and chairs for each family that was affected.”
