Accident kills taxi driver; passenger in critical condition…
Two persons died in separate traffic accidents over the weekend. The first incident occurred shortly after seven on Friday night when Succutz taxi driver, Edwin Valencia crashed into a black Dodge Ram pickup between miles sixty-six and sixty-seven on the Benque Viejo Road. Valencia, who was taking a fare to Benque Viejo Del Carmen, died while his passenger, Eddy Panti, received serious injuries in the incident. Senior Superintendent of the San Ignacio Police, Paul Wade told us more.

“Upon arrival, the police observed a black Dodge Toyota pick-up and a maroon Mazda car on the right hand side of the road extensively damaged. Our initial investigation revealed that one Edwin Valencia, a taxi driver of Succutz village was driving his taxi on the Benque Viejo road heading towards Benque Viejo Town when a black dodge pickup swerved into his lane and collided head on into the taxi. Mr. Valencia was rushed to the San Ignacio hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.”

“Eddy Panti received serious injuries and was transported on to Belize City Hospital where he is in a stable condition at the moment. So far no one has been arrested and charged.”
Panti is currently in stable condition at the K.H.M.H.
