“Initial investigations are showing what occurred that day?”

Cpl. Denford Gonzalez
“The police is having an ongoing investigation. However, the information we are getting so far is t hat the Isuzu D-Max was travelling from the direction of Orange Walk town and it had three occupants; a female, a minor and a driver—a male person. The other vehicle was a Mazda 626 travelling from the opposite direction from Belize City towards Orange Walk and had one occupant, the driver. Upon reaching that area between mile twenty-nine and a half, the Mazda vehicle lost control and, as a result, collided into the D-Max pickup truck.”

The other occupants of the pickup—Jamilet Rubio and a minor—received abrasions from the incident and were transported to the Northern Regional Hospital for treatment and have since been released. The driver of the Mazda car, Orlando Espejo, has since been served with a notice of intended prosecution.
