Might Victims of Car Fire in Placencia Have Succumbed to Foul Play

Were the occupants of a vehicle that caught on fire on the Placencia Road on Wednesday morning the victim of foul play?  The Belize Police Department has launched an investigation into the mysterious circumstances surrounding the deaths of two unidentified persons, believed to be a husband and wife couple from Europe.  While those details are yet to be confirmed, it is believed that there is more to the traffic accident than meets the eye.  On the surface, it appears that the vehicle may have collided into a lamppost on the shoulder of the road; however, the victims were said to have been seated in the passenger’s side, as well as the backseat of the Ford pickup.  An onsite autopsy was conducted on the badly burnt bodies of the pair; nevertheless their identities are yet to be confirmed.  When News Five spoke with Senior Superintendent Ralph Moody earlier today, he dispelled the notion that foul play may have been involved.  We understand, however, that the matter has been handed over to the major crimes unit of the police department.
