G.O.B. Must Act on Nationality Question, Says B.N.T.U.’s Palacio

Luke Palacio

The B.N.T.U., through Elena Smith as the Senator for Trade Unions and Civil Society, has representation in the Senate Select Inquiry where the details of the rot in the system are being exposed.  We asked National President Luke Palacio if there is any hope that someone will be held responsible for the illegalities in the department. And furthermore, if those illegal legalities will be revoked.

Luke Palacio, National President, B.N.T.U.

“Well it is our wish that yes persons will be held criminally liable for this because this is not about any one individual; this is about a country, this is about a people. This is about the future of our country where if we continue to tolerate these things that are happening and we allow them to go unpunished simply because we have now become a nation that seems to be handicapped. We are afraid to speak out, we want others to do it for us; we are not prepared to do certain things for ourselves, despite we see what is going wrong in our country. Yes, we believe that there should be some kind of serious repercussions, punishment if you will, for those individuals who seem to have been aiding and abetting what has happened. The least we can do, the government can do, in our view to rectify some of the situation is with the re-registration and if it is found that persons were illegally registered as a result of being given nationality, then let us revoke that nationality. Let us take them off that voters list so that we can have indeed free and fear elections.”
