“Good Thieves” Have Western Paradise in Fear

It has been an uphill battle for police and the community, because most of the residents work within the city and often times leave their homes unattended and open to crime. According to James, there has been cooperation from the police to try and nip this perennial issue in the bud.

“Well I think they do have cooperation from the police; we have a neighborhood watch system whereby we use a whatsapp system where PC Usher and other police who try…they try but sometimes these thieves, as we go to work, they go to work too. And they seem to know when the police di circle and as the police dehn probably go pan dehn lunch break or something, dehn come out too because they noh really deh di do nothing. They thieves noh really do nothing, but thief yo.”

“Is there a fear that they will come back?”

“Well of course; they just monitor yo good. They are some good thieves; they monitor yo good, good, good, good, good.”

“What else can you guys do to secure your property because man it is your life’s work there for it to just be stolen just like that?”

“Well I noh know what else we could do. we have in alarm system and camera system, but dah just fi try make sure dehn noh get ina yo stuff. Because the thing is when they get into yo house, dah noh just theif and go; dehn bruk up thing, den walk up pan thing and destroy up yo stuff. Dah noh only tek yo TV and go; they go in and bruk up yo stuff and then we have to start all over again. And dah that dah weh we di try noh fi happen because it happen to a lot of other people on this same street. And then sometimes dah when you come back from work ina di evening dah then you realize dehn bruk ina yo house and then they take off yo meter head so yon oh got no current; they thief discomfort yo completely.”
