Police Progressing Slowly in Trio Arson Case

It has been six weeks since five families were wiped out by a fire in a hidden corner of Trio village, Toledo District. The incident appears to be linked to a land dispute involving over fifteen thousand acres of land located four miles outside of the community. So far, the company that claims the land has issued no statement with regard to the unfortunate incident. Police investigations, according to Intermediate Southern Formation Commander Superintendent Reymundo Reyes, have been slowly progressing.

On the Phone: Supt. Reymundo Reyes, O.C. Intermediate Southern Formation

“Statements have been recorded. The police is awaiting a report from the Fire Department, and then the file would be sent to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for advice.”

“So nothing in terms of the vehicle that was seen…?”

On the Phone: Supt. Reymundo Reyes

“No, no, no. That vehicle has not been identified as yet.”

“Okay. And then we had understood that your colleagues in the Ladyville area had someone that they were going to speak to – but nothing come out of that?”

On the Phone: Supt. Reymundo Reyes

“A statement was recorded; that’s why I say we need to seek further advice. A statement has been recorded from one of the individuals.”

Farmers affected by the arson have sought the intervention of Government to sort out issues of title to the affected lands.
