Accused Robber Picked Up for Another Charge

Stanley Moore

Twenty-five-year-old Stanley Moore is back on remand at the Belize Central Prison tonight after being read two charges in connection with the attempted robbery of an elderly businessman on Wednesday night.  Seventy-three-year-old Henry Bulwer and fifty-four-year-old Richard Thurton were both at a fruit and vegetable shop when they were accosted by a pair of armed men who stormed into the premises and attempted to relieve them of cash and other personal items.  The gunmen would meet resistance as both men thwarted the robbery by putting up a fight.  Unfortunately, Bulwer was injured during the scuffle.  The thieves then made off on bicycles but left empty-handed from the Raccoon Street location.  In a statement given to police, Bulwer reported that at around eight o’clock that night, while at home with Thurton, two dark complexioned men entered his place of business.  One of them who was said to have been wearing a warm cap, produced a firearm and pointed it at Thurton.  His accomplice, also wielding a handgun, demanded money.  That’s when the struggle ensued.  Police were later able to capture Moore who was identified as one of the assailants.  The well-known street figure who just celebrated his birthday on Tuesday appeared before Magistrate Carlon Mendoza last week and was able to secure bail for a separate offence.  Today, he was back in court before the same judge who denied him bail for the firearm offence and ordered him remanded until March thirtieth, 2017.
