On the Phone: Supt. Reymundo Reyes, O.C. Intermediate Southern Formation
“Sunday morning sometime after six – shortly after six in the morning, Independence Police received information of the motionless body of a male person lying on the right side of the road, on the Placencia Road, near Santa Cruz. So as a result police visited the scene, where on arrival they saw a male person of Hispanic descent with severe injuries. No other persons or vehicles were seen in the area. The scene was processed; the body was then transported to the Belmopan morgue where it awaits a post-mortem examination. The person has been identified as Israel Lopez, twenty years ago, a resident of Hope Creek village. The information we had is that he was socializing at a Hopkins nightclub, apparently after that he left the establishment but apparently he had already consumed alcohol. He was heading towards his workplace, because apparently he was working at a resort in Riversdale, when apparently he was – we believe he was knocked down by a vehicle, causing the injury to his head and leading to his death.”
