O.W. couple survives home invasion

Inspector Jose Mendez

A couple who own a business on the Belize-Corozal Road in Orange Walk Town were attacked late on Sunday.  A masked and armed pair stormed into their residence, intent on committing burglary, but they were unable to get away with anything and barely got away from police. However, they did cause damage to both household items and the homeowner, as Deputy Commander of Orange Walk Formation, Inspector of Police Jose Mendez, tells us.

Inspector Jose Mendez, Deputy Commander, Orange Walk Formation

“On Sunday eighteenth December at about 9:45 PM, police responded to a call of aggravated burglary in progress at the Belize/Corozal Road. Upon arrival 55 year old businessman Navid Badwani reported to the police that two male persons masked and armed with what appeared to be a handgun demanded money. In the process one of the suspects fired a shot at his television damaging it. Police responded and the two male persons managed to get away. However nothing was stolen from the complainant.

“Did the complainant get a look at who the persons where?”

Inspector Jose Mendez

“They cannot give a positive identification atthis moment as they both had on masks.

“So that is still under investigation?”

Inspector Jose Mendez

“We are still seeking the two individuals at this moment.”
