Christmas fun in Ambergris – but watch out for golf cart thefts

ASP Hnery Jemmott

Golf carts are the hot items for thieves on San Pedro and police say that drivers need to ensure that they lock up their carts. When we spoke with Assistant Superintendent of Police Henry Jemmoth earlier this week we asked him to share some safety tips for islanders and visitors for this holiday. He says police will be out around the island ensuring its safety for residents and tourists.

ASP Henry Jemmoth, OC, San Pedro

“What we have been having is theft of gold carts. People need to understand that – first thing, the value of a golf cart is upwards of fifteen thousand dollars. So, my thing to them, you go on the island having fun please ensure that you lock your golf cart, park it in an area that you can see it or it is visible to you. Because this is one of the crimes that is plaguing us and we are putting other things in place to make it safe. Like I say, everyone can come to San Pedro and have fun because we have things place. The party area is properly policed, low incidents in those areas. So, you can come and have fun in San Pedro for the Christmas holidays.”
