Fake Commuters Tried to Rob Shaw Bus to Belmopan

Edward Broaster

There was yet another robbery on the George Price Highway near miles twenty. A pair of robbers, pretending to be commuters, boarded a Shaw bus en route to Belmopan and would soon hold up the driver and the conductor at gunpoint. The alert conductor would switch the moneybag unknown to the robbers who then got off the bus and fled. Interestingly, a robbery involving a Travellers Truck in which almost fifty thousand dollars was stolen, occurred within proximity to this most recent crime. Assistant Commissioner of Police Edward Broaster told the media more.

ACP Edward Broaster, Regional Commander, Rural Eastern Division

“What I can share with you guys is the fact that we’ve had two robberies on the George Price Highway. The one with the Travellers truck and another one last night with a Shaw bus, which occurred around Gracie Rock where two male persons entered the bus and attempted to rob the conductor. But the conductor due to quick thinking gave them a bag and they alighted the bus and ran with the bag which was not the bag that had in cash. We had since the previous burglary put things in place and our police in Mahogany Heights this morning intercepted three individuals, two of whom are seventeen years old; the other one is twenty-one year old with a point three-eight-zero pistol and six live rounds of ammunition. This happened ten-thirty this morning and they will be charged for kept firearm without a gun license sometime today or tomorrow.”

“Sir, in terms of the robbery of the Shaw bus, did you all get an identification of the two robbers and if so, can you share that with us?”

ACP Edward Broaster

“The only information that we have so far is the fact that it was two dark-skinned male persons last night. The bus did not stop…or our responders were not able to catch up with the bus. Apparently the driver sped to Belmopan and up to this hour have not come in to make a report.”
