Carmelita Land Grab is Wrong, Says P.M.; Should It Be Investigated?

As far as investigation into the questionable transactions involving land acquired by the Vega family in Carmelita, PM Barrow says that if the facts are indeed accurate, as presented by Lake I Area Representative Cordel Hyde last Friday in the House, then it should be reproved altogether.  He also likened that land grab to similar actions taken by members of the previous P.U.P. administration.

“I don’t know that there is any need for an investigation.  If the facts are as you say and as the honorable member of Lake Independence has recited then that is to be condemned out of hand.  There is no need for any investigation, but I merely want to make that point that those… Look at the situation in Sarteneja where again ex-minister of government, of the P.U.P. government ended up with thousands of acres of land.  My good cousin, my fair cousin, one William Arthur Lindo, I just see where between October 2007 and a few months after, he got something, he and his family got something like fifteen hundred acres of land.  All I am saying is that we are prepared to accept what is wrong and we are prepared to ensure that consequences attach to the wrongdoer.”
