Wilfred Elrington Supports A.G. in Case Against Andre Vega and Sharon Pitts

Wilfred “Sedi” Elrington

The government is filing a lawsuit against Andre Vega for not reimbursing to government a four-hundred-thousand-dollar compensation that was paid to him in a land scandal surrounding a property near the Haulover Bridge. Vega, who is the son of former DPM and former Lands Minister Gaspar Vega, and Sharon Pitts were both compensated after they had acquired land that was privately own even though the files at the Ministry were clear that the land was not available. According to shadow P.U.P. Minister for Lands, Cordel Hyde, there is no way that the government can legally get back the money. As former Attorney General, we asked Elrington on to comment on the possibility.

“Well I was not aware that Cordel Hyde was a lawyer. I have not seen the papers; he would not have seen them himself either so that I do not think he is being serious. The tendency on the part of the P.U.P. is to condemn everything that you do. If we had not made an initiative to try and get it back, they would have been critical of it. Now we are going to file documents to get it back, they are critical of that. What must we do? You see the difficulty they put us in. So I don’t know. I believe in the justice system. I think that the Attorney General is a dead serious young lady and very competent as well. So I am very optimistic that she will in fact get results.”
