Still Time for Sarstoon Protocol Before 2016 Ends?

The last we spoke with Minister Elrington, he made it clear that communication with his counterpart in Guatemala, Carlos Raul Morales, was non-existent and that things relating to the territorial claim were at a standstill with Guatemala. . Today, we asked him whether there has been any improvement in particular in respect of a proposed protocol for the Sarstoon which had been promised by the end of this year. The Foreign Minister is still optimistic.

Wilfred “Sedi” Elrington, Minister of Foreign Affairs

“I’d like to think so. I won’t give any details, but I’d like to think so. I think we are seeing some light at the end of the tunnel.”

Wilfred “Sedi” Elrington

“While you said you didn’t want to get into any details on the progress made with your counterparts of Guatemala, are we looking at any kind of framework being established or drafted surrounding the Sarstoon? We did put the end of this year as a timeline or a period to get that established.”

Wilfred “Sedi” Elrington

“Fortunately the year has not yet ended. I am still working on it. Believe me, I am still working on it.”
