Eamon Asks Godwin to Reverse Net Vasquez Integrity Commission Appointment

Arguing that the Senate was misled into approving the appointment and “a legal nullity”, lead Senator for the People’s United Party, Eamon Courtenay, has written Leader of Government Business in the Senate and Minister Godwin Hulse.  Courtenay is asking to rescind Nestor Vasquez’s appointment to the Integrity Commission. Vasquez was nominated under the Prevention of Corruption Act which specifies that the Commission must have a practicing member from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Belize. While Vasquez had been a member between 1985 and 2009, he has not renewed his membership since and is not currently in good standing with the Institute. Courtenay writes that the certificate submitted by Vasquez to prove his membership was expired, rendering him unqualified. Courtenay asks Hulse to take steps to rescind the appointment as a matter of urgency and to confirm that he will make matters right. The appointment took effect on December first for a period of two years. The Senate meets again on December fifteenth.

For 8 yrs Mr Barrow could not find a certified accountant but when he was given one that was willing to serve, all of a sudden he found ONE. What does this tell you about his intentions.
