Caught on Camera: E.D. South Addressing Alleged Infraction Involving Police Vehicle
While we’re on the subject of police vehicles, amateur footage of a pickup truck assigned to Eastern Division South has gone viral after it was posted on the internet a few days ago. The video shows the vehicle lodged in ditch in the Saint Martin’s area and an occupant exits shortly thereafter with what appears to be a bottle of liquor. It begs the question of supervision of the department’s fleet of vehicle. We asked Commissioner of Police Allen Whylie about the incident. While he says he hasn’t seen the clip, Whylie admits that he is aware of its existence and that the issue has been taken up with Assistant ComPol Chester Williams since the infraction happened in his jurisdiction.
Allen Whylie, Commissioner of Police
“I haven’t seen the video. I am aware, I was briefed that there was a vehicle somewhere in the St. Martin’s area where it is said that either a sinkhole or the drain, I am not certain but I think that the Deputy Commissioner had addressed that matter with Mr. Williams because I believe it was a vehicle assigned to the Eastern Division South. I haven’t seen the video so I have to see the video before I could comment. I have to see it before I could comment further and I will see it in my own time.”
Poor response by the COMPOL….
