Orange Walk Police May Make Arrest in Brutality Report

Orange Walk Police are wrapping up their investigations and may make an arrest of one of their own in a case of police brutality reported in Guinea Grass, Orange Walk. The village’s lone police officer is accused of laying a beating on twenty year old construction worker Hugo Noh following a traffic stop in front of a grocery store where the officer had been drinking with friends. Noh and the officer got into an argument filled with obscene language, which ended with a pistol-whipping which left Noh severely injured and now unable to work. We contacted Police Superintendent in charge at Orange Walk, Selvyn Tillett, for an update today.

On the Phone: Supt. Selvyn Tillett, O.C., Orange Walk Police

“We have recorded statements; issued the medico-legal form; and hopefully by tomorrow we should close up everything. We are still doing certain investigations.”

“So you are confident that there will be an arrest?”

On the Phone: Supt. Selvyn Tillett

“I am not “confident” but we are looking at it, we will read the evidence and then we will decide. More than likely yes, but I cannot say yes or no.”

Superintendent Tillett reiterated his and the Department’s distaste for brutal treatment of citizens by officers. Noh was treated at the Northern Regional Hospital where he received stitches for six wounds to the head and over the right eye. He plans to make a report to the Disciplinary Tribunal of the Police Department and a formal complaint to the Ombudsman office. Additionally, Noh will be suing the officer and the Department.
