Trio Faces Trial for Stann Creek Resident’s Murder
Two brothers and their friend, John and Sheldon Grinage, along with Brandon Baptist accused of the January thirtieth, 2016 murder of Stann Creek resident, Mariano Castillo, will stand trial for murder in the January session of the Supreme Court. This morning, the duo, saw their case end in a paper committal when they appeared before Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer. Prosecutor, Corporal Christopher Smith, is relying on eleven statements and documentary evidence given by the three accused men.
This morning, Baptist told the court that a number of witnesses do not want to testify on his behalf; and only John Grinage will call witnesses to the stand. On January thirtieth, Mariano Castillo of Georgetown Village, Stann Creek with stabbed to the abdomen while walking along with his common-law-wife and two other persons on Mahogany Street Extension. Castillo was stabbed in an altercation that followed and succumbed while undergoing treatment at the K.H.M.H.
