Accused Attackers of Suspected Arsonist Charged

Brian Welch

Two-year-old Kaylee Alvarez perished in a fire on October twenty-seventh at her house on Ebony Street, Belize City where she was watching television.  Police have ruled that the fire was not as a result of arson as originally believed to be case by her grieving mother.  But tonight, two persons are facing charges for allegedly beating a resident, who relatives suspected was the arsonist. Brian Welch and Nickesha Rhaburn appeared before Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer and were charged jointly with use of deadly means of harm and dangerous harm upon Richierich Jones. There was objection to bail so the duo remains in custody tonight.

The prosecutor submitted that Welch and Rhaburn took matter in their own hands and acted irrationally threatening the life of Jones. He was attacked at the corner of West Collet Canal and Vernon Street by a number of persons and he later singled out Welch and Rhaburn as his attackers. Jones was stabbed to the back and neck and had cuts and bruises to his face.  The duo is due back in Court on December ninth, 2016.
