Bert Vasquez to Stand Trial in December for 2011 Abduction

Bert Vasquez

Bert Vasquez, who is on remand for murder was before the court today for another allegation against him for which he is charged with forcible abduction and harm upon a sixteen-year old girl.  The minor alleges that she was at the Pound Yard Bridge in Belize City in May of 2011 when Vasquez forced her into his vehicle and took her to a location in the Vista Del Mar area where he pistol whipped her causing an injury to her nose.  That allegation goes back five years ago, but the case management took place today before Supreme Court Judge Adolph Lucas. At conclusion of the hearing, Vasquez’s trial was tentatively set for December ninth, 2016.  Judge Lucas heard from the prosecutor, Janelle Tillett as well as from Vasquez’s attorney Christelle Wilson regarding the evidence against the accused. Vasquez is also on remand for the murder of Jasmine Lowe, a school girl with the Scouts Association who was murdered in 2012 in the Cayo area.
