Javier Chan Perishes in RTA in Corozal Town

There is another traffic fatality. Police are investigating a traffic accident on Tuesday night in Corozal Town that claimed the life of twenty-two year old Javier Luis Chan. According to the police report, Sergeant Everon Teck Senior was headed toward the police station on First Street North, when he saw two men chasing another man from the direction of Seventh Avenue, heading toward Fifth Avenue. The man they were chasing ended up in front of a bus, which ran over him. The victim, a mentally challenged patient of Chula Vista, died while undergoing treatment at the hospital. The bus’s driver, thirty year old Alberto Cowo of Concepcion, was served a notice of intended prosecution. But that’s not all there is to the story, as we hear from Senior Superintendent of Police Dennis Arnold, the Officer Commanding Corozal Police Formation.

On the Phone: Sr. Supt. Dennis Arnold, O.C. Corozal Police Formation

“We had gotten information that this person was at a Chinese, basically a fast food restaurant owned by a Chinese and apparently he was taking off the front license plate from a vehicle in front of the business place. The vehicle had an alarm and the alarm went off and two male persons were chasing him from that direction and that’s when the incident took place nearly in front of the police station.”

“So in terms of investigation, what will police pursue since an officer saw the accident happen.”

“What happen, we will do the file, we will take statements from every person who is concern and we will send the file to the D.P.P. for her advice.”
