Godwin Hulse Satisfied With Legal Explanation

While John Saldivar was not available for comment today and neither was Prime Minister Barrow, two of his Cabinet colleagues were willing to speak for him. Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries Senator Godwin Hulse offered a succinct summary of the legal opinion and an even more terse response to the question of whether his fellow Minister should have disclosed all of his business dealings with William “Danny” Mason.

Godwin Hulse, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries

“With respect to the company that shares were not issued, and so really there was not a functioning company; they were subscribed but they were not issued. So we cannot say that the man had a relationship, a business relationship, because the company was just paper; no shares were issued and as a consequence, there could be no relationship; that is my general understanding. I’ll say no more because it is a very legal thing; but that is my understanding.”

“Sir, but having the documents that says that shares, even in a defunct company; shouldn’t that have been something anybody would have wanted to disclose – ‘See, ah di give yu everything, there is nothing to hide.’”

Godwin Hulse

“The man said it was from September, you know, and from September he said, I had no further business relationship or no business relationship, and if that is what the opinion says, that it was not a business relationship, then I have to accept that.”
