Are Roman Catholic School Managers and Bishop Still at Odds?

Is there division between the Management of Catholic Schools and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Belize and Belmopan? Today, the Belize Catholic Association of Principals of Secondary Schools sent out a release saying that it met with the Bishop Dorick Wright on Wednesday at his residence where principals and representatives from eight of the eleven catholic secondary schools discussed the impending strike by teachers. According to the association, Bishop Wright indicated his concern for the safety of students during the industrial action and informed them that a press release would be issued, urging parents to be mindful of this aspect. Now, we did received that release early Thursday morning, but by mid-afternoon, General Manager of the Catholic Public Primary Schools held a press conference, saying that the letter was not the official position of the management and that mechanisms have been put in place to keep schools open. Well News Five has confirmed that between then and now, she has obviously been updated on the situation as today she wrote a letter to Minister Faber saying, “It has been brought to my attention since my letter to you that Bishop Wright did verbally endorse the press release in question.”
