Olimpia F.C. Hits Belize for Clash with Police United

Hector Vargas

On Thursday, Police United FC takes on Team Olimpia in its home game for the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League. In its last outing with Pachuca, team Belize took eleven goals and scored zero against the Mexican team. Back in August, Belize traveled to Honduras where it lost four-nil to Olimpia. Today, team Olimpia arrived in the Jewel and headed to the Radisson. In the current CONCACAF standings, team Olimpia is trailing Mexico’s Pachuca and will need to score three goals in this match to advance in the competition. This morning we asked Team Captain Danilo Tobias and Coach Hector Vargas about their preparation for Thursday’s face-off against Police United.

The expectations are always the same whenever we compete… we try to win. We have a good opportunity because we will end the triangular competition at home. After facing Police United we will play against Pachuca on October 19 so we came here to play as best as we can. Our priority is to gain the three points and win the match, the same way we did in Tegucigalpa.”

“We come prepared. We just completed playing in the National League of Honduras. We came in second with three points. We are in good condition. The team is more complete this time, with players who participated in the Olympics.”

Hector Vargas [Translated]

“We plan to win tomorrow so we can get six points then move on to play against Pachuca and advance to the next round. We have done it before when we played against Portland and we hope to do it again.”
