Barrow Says Shooting Will Not Deter Government’s Crime Fight

Dean Barrow

The Prime Minister said that he could not speak to why Candice Anderson was at the house where she was shot on Thursday. As it relates to the fight against crime, the nation’s leader says as criminal activity is unceasing, so too is the Government’s marshalling resources to fight it.

Dean Barrow, Uncle of Shooting Victim

“Of course I can’t talk to you about that because I don’t know. I haven’t spoken to my niece. As I told you, when I went to the hospital, she was sedated so I hadn’t even seen her. I am afraid you would have to ask her those questions when she is in a position to talk to her.”

Isani Cayetano

“P.M., you’ll forgive my line of questioning here, but there are people who would say well in your case, crime has hit close to home. This is a relative of yours who has been the victim of a shooting incident. Are you considering, in the grand scheme of things, addressing some of the issues that leads to crime and violence as it concerns your niece?”

Dean Barrow

“Well not as it concerns my niece; as it concerns the general public. We are trying to do that constantly. It is a continuous labour and we will proceed in the way we’ve been going, hoping always for improvements; trying to commit more resources, trying different approaches, looking at it holistically. It is just a ceaseless effort and we will commit to pouring as much, making as much of a resource input as we possibly can.”
