Does Government Really Want a Senate inquiry?
Bradley too wonders if Government’s behaviour points to something more sinister – for instance, trying to manoeuvre the Opposition out of the proceedings. He drew comparison with how the P.U.P. handled matters in 2004.
Richard “Dickie” Bradley, Former Lead Senator of Government Business
“In fact, you know what; maybe what he wants is for the Opposition to say we will not take part. On the last occasion, when Prime Minister [Said] Musa indicated unu du weh unu want eena di Senate, and the Senate appointed an investigation into the Social Security scandals and they invited Godwin Hulse to be head of that Investigating Committee – that is what you do. You know go round fi tell people what fi do – in fact they invited Senator Arturo Roches, and he accepted in the Senate, and then he received an urgent call from – well, he said U.D.P. headquarters – telling him, ‘you can’t take that.’ So maybe they want to sabotage the Senate Committee – they want the Opposition to say, ‘Don’t tell us what to do; in fact, if you insist on telling us we are not going to take part – that is the plan.”
My lap dogs in the house.
Opposition dogs outside, they have nothing to bark about.
