Tampering Suspected With Blood of Accident Victim
The missing information is one thing, but police also confirmed today that there was tampering with the blood sample for Dawson that was sent for testing at the National Forensic lab. Somewhere and somehow, ethanol was injected into Dawson’s blood. Police are also looking at this angle and suspect personnel from the scenes of crime. There are two persons who came in contact with the vial of blood; the pathologist and the scenes of crime person, who remains on duty with the Rural Eastern Division.
ACP Edward Broaster, Regional Commander, Rural Eastern Division
“We have investigation ongoing at this time as it pertains to the alleged tampering of the sample which was taken from the deceased, Mister Dean Dawson at the morgue and transported to the Forensic Lab. So there is an investigation as it pertains to that, given the results of that test.”
Duane Moody
“What was being done to tamper with it?”
ACP Edward Broaster
“The sample, according to the chemist, had concentration of ethanol which is impossible for any human being to consume.”
Duane Moody
“So who would have been in charge or responsible for that vial with blood, to be able to tamper with it before it reached the lab?”
ACP Edward Broaster
“I can tell you who is responsible for the vial after the sample was taken and it to have been transported to the lab and that would have been the scenes of crime person.”
Duane Moody
“So a member of the police department?”
ACP Edward Broaster
“That’s a civilian staff; a member of the scenes of crime.”
Duane Moody
“Sir, what kind of implications would that have on the civilian staff if the investigation proves that he or she did tamper with that?”
ACP Edward Broaster
“Well I am sure that the Director o the National Forensic Lab will deal with any person they find guilty of tampering with that evidence.”
Duane Moody
“Is that person still on duty sir, still working?”
ACP Edward Broaster
“The person that was responsible? Yes.”
Duane Moody
“With this precinct sir?”
ACP Edward Broaster
“With the rural eastern division yes.”
We spoke with Pakeman this evening and said he had no comment to make at this time.
