Opposition Sticks to Demand for Senate inquiry

Michel Chebat

According to Special Audit, Dahlstrom applied for nationality on the fifth of April 2012 and noted on his application that he “eventually wants to reside in Belize.” He was recommended for nationality on October twenty-second 2012 and Minister Hulse signed the nationality certificate that same day. One day later, on October twenty-third, he applied for a Belizean passport and obtained his passport on that same day. While Dahlstrom married Simplis’ sister some twenty-two years ago, in 1994; the report claims he has never been in Belize for a period exceeding four to six weeks.  The P.U.P. is now calling for the revocation of Dahlstrom’s Belizean documents.

Michel Chebat, P.U.P. Senator

“He received the passport based on a fraudulent nationality certificate that was issued to him the day before he got his passport. But attached to his passport application was another application form dates April fifth 2012. Since Peter William Dahlstrom did not receive Belizean nationality until October twenty-second, if he had a previous passport as in the April fifth, 2012 passport application form indicated, it would have been a fraudulent or a deliberate attempt to make it appear as though the applicant had one and was only renewing it on April fifth 2012. The application for passport on the April fifth, 2012 had to have had a bogus nationality certificate number since his nationality certificate was not issued until October twenty-third, 2012. Ladies and gentlemen, for all of these reasons, we are calling for the following: one, the government to revoke in the passport and nationality certificate for Mister Peter Dahlstrom along with all other fraudulent passports and nationality certificates identified in the Auditor General’s special audit report; two, Minister Godwin Hulse resigns immediately from the post of Minister of Police to allow for a fair and unbiased investigation into the findings of the Auditor General’s special audit report; and three, the reinstitution of the motion in the senate of a senate inquiry which is the only mechanism specifically allowed under the constitution of Belize to investigate these matters.”

People, especially the churches, see the reason why Mr Borrow do not want the senate investigation to take place? The minister of immigration, Mr. Hulse is also involved. How you thing that the investigating committee he will form will do a good job?
