N.T.U.C.B. President Wonders: Will Prime Minister Make Joint Committee Appointments?

Elena Smith

Trade unionist Elena Smith is the last senator standing among her social partner colleagues, based on an informal process of elimination conducted by Prime Minister Barrow on Thursday.  During a press conference to discuss the Auditor General’s report, PM Barrow disregarded senators Ashley Rocke and Mark Lizarraga as potential chairs of the Joint Select Committee.  They were eliminated because, according to the Prime Minister, both representatives seemingly failed to vote in accordance with the expectations of their respective organizations. In the case of Lizarraga, the Chamber had responded very quickly to say that his vote was in line with their directives. That leaves Senator Smith as the only option in the Prime Minister’s view.  But is the N.T.U.C.B. representative prepared to lead the charge in probing the activities of the Immigration Department?

Isani Cayetano

“In the press conference held by the prime minister on Thursday, he essentially, casually dismissed Senator Mark Lizarraga as a candidate for the leadership of this investigation by virtue of the fact that he was saying, “well, look Mr…

You see the big difference. The P M will want to decide who will be in the investigating committee. This is exactly what he wanted. He wanted to make all control the committee. Its like the police investigating the police. The P M thinks we are fool ? Now like he says that the immigration department did not see the report before released. O K that is why we need a senate investigating committee to give chance to those people to defend themselves. The P M knows for sure that the public officers will start to name all the ministers that send directives to process illegal documents. Too much cover up is going on. So up to now Penner has not been arrested and charged.
