P.U.P. Comments on Barrow Press Conference

The People’s United Party has reacted to the Prime Minister’s press conference held on Thursday. The P.U.P. had tabled a motion for a Senate Select Committee to investigate the Immigration and Nationalization scandal, but it was defeated five vote for and seven against.  A release from the P.U.P. says that what the Auditor General’s report has uncovered warrants not only a Senate investigation, but also an immediate criminal investigation by the police department. The party is also of the view that the Prime Minister’s apology came a little too late and only after the outrage from Belizeans was felt. The release says, “The reality is that the Prime Minister is making a half-hearted attempt to stop the public haemorrhaging over the scathing Auditor General audits, which implicates thirteen present and former cabinet ministers. Also, there is nothing to suggest to us that the official cover up will discontinue.” The P.U.P. finds it offensive that Senator Godwin Hulse, the substantive Minister of Immigration, refused to recuse himself from the vote on whether the Senate should appoint a select committee on the matter.

The best and honorable thing for Mr G Hulse to do is to resign because he has no credibility again. Remember that HE was the one who used to sing a lot about against corruption in government. Now HE is involved in the cover up. What a disgrace .
