Attorney General Promises J.P.’s in Audit Report Will Face Justice

Vanessa Retreage

One more report on the special audit…at least for tonight…Attorney General Senator Vanessa Retreage did not support the need for a Senate inquiry into the Audit Reports on Nationality, Passports and Visas. But that does not mean that any guilty persons named in the report should escape punishment. As the nation’s top legal adviser, she warned of punishment coming the way of Justices of the Peace who have been named in the report, during the Senate’s meeting on Wednesday when the issue was debated.

Senator Vanessa Retreage, Attorney General of Belize

“And I for one, speaking in the capacity of the Attorney General, say that for the Justices of the Peace who have been named in this report, The Justices of the Peace Act provides explicitly that after giving those persons an opportunity in writing to be heard, the Attorney General may remove those persons from the office of Justice of the Peace. I intend to embark on that process in terms of those Justices of the Peace that have been named. And after affording them the opportunity in writing and examining what explanation has been provided, appropriate action will be taken.”

Hmmm….So its a FREE PASS WITH WALLETS FULL for the Ministers, and the JP’s will now be the DUMMIES who will pay the price. TRULY THE BEST IS YET TO COME!!!

  2. Steve says:

What a fool this woman is. She thinks Belizeans are stupid? We will not be satisfied that the JPs are punished. What about the politicians who committed the crime also? What about their punishment? Those politicians must also be removed from office.

This woman is really stupid way to the bone. Now they want to deal with the poor J P. I am not saying they shouldn’t be dealt, but men deal with the main root of the problem. Put a law that any minister interfering with officers’ work will be punished. Remove , fire those that have been involved with this corruption. Fire those officers that lend themselves to corruption along with ministers. That is why we need government to sign the U N convention against corruption.
