A Cayo Man’s Horrific Death After Night of Socializing

Hever Miranda

There was a second murder in the Cayo District, this time at a popular bar just outside Spanish Lookout on the Iguana Creek Road. Now it is not the first time that someone has been killed at La Pasadita Bar; in fact in early May, fifty-nine-year-old Jose Anibal Molina Estrada of Duck Run Three was killed as he socialized with friends at the bar. Tonight, another resident, forty-one-year-old Hever Miranda, a resident from Duck Run Two was shot and chopped to death at the bar. News Five’s Duane Moody has that story.

“Sometime after midnight, the victim was engaged in a heated argument with another bar patron over some derogative remarks that the accused said to a female relative of the victim which subsequently resulted in a physical confrontation between the victim and the bar patron. Mister Miranda, the deceased, then left for La Pasadita Bar in the company of his family and friends whereby the same individual he had the confrontation with followed them to La Pasadita Bar and allegedly fired a shot at him and another male individual that was with him allegedly inflicted the chop wounds to the said victim.”

Rosado says that both murder weapons have been recovered, statements recorded and the alleged suspected have been detained.

Supt. Richard Rosado

“Alcohol may have been a contributing factor which led to the misunderstanding.”

“And then it’s the second incident there that’s fatal in the past three months, I think.”

Supt. Richard Rosado

“Yes ma’am; it is the second incident that’s happening at the said location. This incident specifically happened at the entrance of the bar.”

“So it was a nine millimeter pistol that was used?”

Supt. Richard Rosado

“Yes it was a nine millimeter pistol.”

Duane Moody

“Is it licensed?”

Supt. Richard Rosado

“Yes, he has a license for the firearm.”

Duane Moody

“Licensed to who sir?”

Supt. Richard Rosado

“At this moment, we do not want to disclose the name of the person because he has not been charged as yet. But we expect that he should be charged by the end of the day, if not, by first thing in the morning.”
