Melissa Ferguson Makes Bail on Conspiracy to Kidnap Charge

Richard “Dickie” Bradley

This afternoon in the Supreme Court, a legal showdown was expected between the Crown and Senior Counsel Richard “Dickie” Bradley who represents Melissa Ferguson, an accused conspirator in the kidnapping of murdered pastor Llewellyn Lucas and David Dodd.  Crown Counsel Rene Montero had requested and was granted an adjournment last week Thursday to decide how to object to the granting of bail to the Canadian national, who is the common-law wife of accused murderer William Mason.  But the Crown, today represented by Senior Crown Counsel Sheneiza Smith, did not object to bail, and tonight, Ferguson is free, as explained by Bradley:

Richard “Dickie” Bradley, Attorney for Melissa Ferguson

“This afternoon in front of Judge Justice John Troadio Gonzalez, Melissa Ferguson is falsely accused, wrongly imprisoned for some kidnapping she knows nothing about. She has been granted bail in the sum of two sureties; two persons have to in fact be carrying the burden in the event that she should spend some time in Havana Cuba while she should be in Belize. The other usual conditions have been imposed upon her. She is to surrender her Canadian passport to the Belmopan Clerk of Courts; she is to report to the Belmopan Police Station every Friday effective this coming Friday. She is not to make contact with any of the witnesses in the case.”

Justice Gonzalez also warned Ferguson that she must also not interfere with any of the prosecution witnesses and attend all her court adjournments in the Belmopan Magistrate Court and not be arrested and charged for any other offense whilst out on bail or her bail will be revoked.
