119 Persons in Belize City Remain in Shelters

But the reality is that there’s still a large number of persons still in shelters with Belize City registering the majority. A total of one hundred and nineteen persons need housing in shelter and at least three agencies are coordinating the relief assistance.

“That is solely being handled by one the police department providing security. Two, the Ministry of Human Development is dealing with the relief and supplies and placement of persons in those shelters. So three ministries at this time are involved—the shelters wardens who fall under the Human Resource element aspect; relief and supplies, dealing with the persons, their needs and so forth and then we have security forces providing security for them.”
