Ladyville Welder John Williams Killed Inside His House

John Williams

Thirty-two year old welder, John Williams, a resident of Ladyville, was murdered inside his house in the Japan area on Tuesday night. The gunman knocked at his door and when Williams opened, he was met by a barrage of bullets. When police arrived at his house, Williams was dead. The suspect is Egbert Baldwin aka Eggy, a street figure well-known to the law. Baldwin is out on bail for a robbery charge. But prior to that, he was charged for the attempted murder of Casey Lozano and others. So far he has evaded the police and is wanted. News Five’s Duane Moody reports.

Around ten o’clock on Tuesday night, shots rang out in the Japan area of Ladyville. Minutes later, police would respond and find a man dead inside his house. Thirty-two year old John Williams was inside the upper flat of his house, located behind the basketball court and where there is no lamppost to light the area. But in the dead of the night, a person reportedly came knocking at his door. When he opened the door, a gunman fired hitting Williams in the head.

ACP Edward Broaster, Regional Commander, Rural Eastern Division

“John Michael Williams, thirty-two years, a Belizean welder of number five myrtle Waight Crescent Ladyville was shot and killed. The scene was visited; the police found the individual lying on the floor, apparently dead. We do not have any motive as it pertains to the reason for this shooting. We did find some illegal substance, but we are not quick to say that it was because of that; nevertheless, we have issued an arrest warrant for one Egbert Baldwin, aka Eggy, who is the suspect in this murder.”

“Mister Williams was killed after a knock was made at his door. could you talk to us about that?”

ACP Edward Broaster

“Like I said, when the police responded to the crime scene, they found Mister Williams in his residence on the floor with the shot to the forehead.”

Reporter

“Sir do you all believe that he may have been lured to open the door?”

ACP Edward Broaster

“Well we cannot tell at this time. For security reasons, we will not divulge more information.”

Egbert Baldwin

A motive for this latest homicide in the Ladyville jurisdiction is not known as Williams has not had any run-ins with the law. But police say that the main suspect, Egbert Baldwin, is well-known to the police. In fact, he was charged in the past couple of months for attempted murder and burglary.

ACP Edward Broaster

“On the fourteenth of May, we arrested and charged several individuals for the attempted murder of Casey Lozano et al. one of those individuals had gotten supreme court bail. And subsequent to that, on the twelfth of July 2016, he was arrested and charged for robbery. He went to prison, he back out on Supreme Court bail again. Now this individual is the suspect for the murder that occurred last night. While we respect the right to individual’s freedom and liberty, when you get Supreme Court bail, it is with condition and you are not to be arrested for any crime or so forth. This individual went to prison for attempted murder of several individuals. He got Supreme Court bail, he came back out. He committed a robbery, we arrested and charged him; he went back to prison. He got Supreme Court bail again and he came back out. And now he is the main suspect in this murder. So yes, we are very concerned about that situation.”
