What’s the Status of Local Investigation into William ‘Danny’ Mason?

The Prime Minister claimed that he made the decision to remove Saldivar largely because of the optics. He was the Minister of National Security in charge of the Police conducting the investigation into William Mason, a great friend of Saldivar and the Police. But by that token, what of the Police conducting the investigation, since it has been established that many of them “worked” unofficially for Mason, so to speak?

And the very persons who are very close to William Mason are the police officers, probably a lot of them, who are dealing with the investigation. So can you really trust what is coming out in that investigation? Let me just point out one other thing – for example, somebody who has been called the right hand of Minister Saldivar was inside that bar drinking with William Mason. And the police on the scene were the ones who told him you need to leave; you need to get out of this area. Have those details…we have confirmed that with multiple sources who were there. But have you all been told that, has the C.E.O. been told that, have you been told that in your briefing?”

“Mike that sort of detail, if accurate, is not the sort of detail that has been communicated to me. But let me start from the beginning. I don’t hold anything against the media for its relentless pursuit of this issue. I think you are doing your job. The role of a free media in any democratic society is one to be treasured, to be jealously guarded, to be enhanced. So please I will quarrel with individual questions or comments that are dressed up in the guise of questions, I will quarrel with premises that are stated that I cannot accept as being valid, but that’s a matter of detail. Overall, and I speak sincerely, I am absolutely impressed at the media’s zeal and gusto and ability to in fact ferret out details. Now of course, don’t get carried away, it is not all because you are such wonderful sluice. When you told me about what police officers are telling you, I thought to myself, the police department as leaky as the cabinet weh I di run because that dah wah next place weh unu look like unu go and get anything weh unu need to. But kudos to you, kudos to you; that is a role that is invaluable and I commend you on this excellent discharge of such a role.”
