Former Immigration CEO Ruth Meighan Denied Entry into the U.S.

Dean Barrow

This morning, News Five was able to confirm with multiple sources that NEMO C.E.O. Ruth Meighan was denied entry into the US and turned back to Belize. It allegedly happened on Friday and is significant even if only because Meighan is a very senior and respected C.E.O., at least in government circles. She didn’t answer our calls or texts today, and we could get no official reason for the sanction by the U.S. authorities in Houston. Interestingly, Meighan was the Director of Immigration under then Minister of State Elvin Penner, who we are reliably informed, has also had his visa revoked. We asked the PM for some clarification.

Prime Minister Dean Barrow

“I have heard and no official information has come to me. I have heard that the C.E.O. was turned back; I don’t know the reason on for it.”
