Salvadoran charged in hit and run

A Salvadoran living in the Orange Walk District has been arrested after he allegedly knocked down and killed a cyclist on Saturday night. According to police, fifty-nine year old Maximiliano Sarceno, a Guatemalan living in Guinea Grass Village, was riding his bicycle on the Guinea Grass Road around nine-thirty when he was struck by a white pickup truck. Sarceno was pronounced dead on arrival at Northern Regional Hospital. Police say the vehicle, which was travelling in the opposite direction, did not stop, but continued on its way. Authorities later tracked a pickup fitting the description to Cacabish Village, where it was found with damages to the hood, left grill, and lights. Thirty-three year old Delfino Francisco Deodanes of San Felipe Village, believed to be the driver, has been detained pending charges.
