Representative Says Minor Glitches Aside Company is Boon to Country

The state of the art facility, set on twenty-thousand acres in Valley of Peace, is one of the largest investments in Belize, close to two hundred million dollars. Burke says that reality, and the fact that the company has done and continues to do so many positive things in the community and country, should at least cast them in a favorable public light, instead of constant criticism.

On the Phone: Beverly Burke, Santander Representative, Belize

“The size of our investment, the number of individuals that we employ, the advanced technology and transfer of this knowledge through ongoing training that we do, the circulation of money, the local contractors that we hire and all these things add positive notes to this development and I do continue to encourage that people also see that. We are not here to destroy and run. That’s not what we are all about. Nobody will have $175M in the ground and don’t care as to what happens to this project in the long run, and that is what I really would like people to take stock of as well. The magnitude of this project can never happen without glitches and we learn, we plan, we encourage and we invite those who make decisions in this country to keep looking at this project. I still believe that is it one of the viable projects that will bring very good results for Belize.”

  1. Belize Opinion says:

    Really Burke?

Santander acts have been outreagous. The investments are precisely that – means to make millions and apparently at whatever cost to Belize.
