Silent Witnesses in La Croix Boulevard Double Murder Holding Up Investigation

As we told you in Monday’s newscast, eighteen year old Kent Brooks Junior succumbed at the K.H.M.H. on Sunday morning, some eleven days after being shot to the lower back June twenty-ninth. The now double murder of Brooks Junior and Kieran Morrison is just one of the many homicides for which the police have not been able to secure an arrest. Police investigation continues to indicate that the double murder was as a result of gang rivalry in the La Croix Boulevard area of Saint Martin De Porres, in Belize City. But with the death of Brooks Junior and witnesses not willing to provide recorded statements, ACP Chester Williams says that the investigation is currently at a standstill, even though they know who the gunman is.

“We want to extend our condolences to the parents of Mister Kent Brooks and yes yesterday morning he was pronounced dead at the hospital having been removed from life support. We were hoping for the best that he would have recovered and would have been able to shed some light on that ongoing investigation, but unfortunately that did not materialize. We basically have an idea who is the triggerman behind those two murders, but the difficulty always is getting people to give statement as it relates to what they may have seen in respect to these incidents and this is where we wish we would be able to get more cooperation from the public because there were many people around when this incident took place and many people saw what took place. But because of fear, people are afraid to come forward and give evidence and give statements. Yes they speak to us behind the scene, but to reduce what they have to say in writing is another issue. And so the investigation at this time is at a standstill. We are hoping that maybe someone would come forward and give us the statement that we would need to proceed further with that investigation.”
