Alden Sutherland Sentenced to 2 Years for Arson of Vehicle

Alden Sutherland

The June session of the Supreme Court started today. Aside from numerous indictments, Justice Troadio John Gonzalez also dealt with the case of Alden Sutherland, who was charged for the arson of a sixty-thousand dollar vehicle belonging to the Manager of the Jewellery Exchange Center. After taking a number of factors into consideration and Sutherland’s not guilty plea, the Judge showed mercy and imposed a two-year sentence, of which he has already served one year five months and twenty-one days. So he will only serve another six months behind bars.  Sutherland was accused of intentionally setting on fire the vehicle of Hector Cho on September fourteenth, 2014 while it was parked on Youth for the Future Drive.  In mitigation plea, Sutherland asked for leniency, saying he is the father of two children who had to be left in the care of their grandmother. He told the court he had recently graduated from the prison’s rehabilitation program and that he was sorry for setting Cho’s vehicle on fire. Sutherland admitted he was sick when he committed the crime and a two-year sentence was imposed.
