How is that Message Translated on Broader Scale?

Ivan Williams

The workshop only caters to a small cross-section of employers, employees and union representatives. So how does the message get from this small room to where it needs to go?

Ivan Williams, Labor Commissioner

“We’ve already spoken to the University and they intend to continue a process of perhaps ‘train the trainers.’ Here today we have a very wide cross-section – all ten registered trade unions in this country have been invited so they too can take back the message to their people. A number of business houses have also been invited and the Ministry of Labour staff has also been invited because it is a tripartite process. All sides need to be aware of this new approach. And so yes we have to come up with strategies and ways of how to reach out, and the best way to do that is through the tripartite approach – training a certain amount of people and then we take it back to our membership and to the workplace and hopefully it can gravitate and expand.”
