Belize City Man Gunned Down on Kraal Road
But prior to the Hattieville murder, the life of Edison Williams was cut short in Belize City for motives unknown. On Friday night, the thirty-three-year old resident of Kraal Road was at his own yard when he was fired upon by a shooter who emerged from the nearby alley. The brazen gunman approached and spoke to Williams before delivering the fatal shots. Williams was rushed to the K.H.M.H but he died nine hours later. News Five’s Duane Moody has details from the family as well as the police.

“He as at home, at his house address when he got shot. He was stooping down as he usually do. When he was stooping, the gunman came and shot him up from through the back of the alley. I don’t really know.”
“How many times was he hit?”
Voice of: Sister of Murder Victim
“Well about approximately three to four times I would say.”
ACP Chester Williams
“From what we have gathered from our investigation, which is still in the infancy stage, he was socializing through some alley in the Kraal Road area, when a lone gunman came and fired shots at him. Apparently he was the intended target because from what we understand, the gunman actually spoke to him, said certain things to him before shooting him.”
But nine hours later, at five-twenty a.m., Williams would succumb to his injuries at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.

“I was home when I got a phone call that they just shot my brother. When I come out to Kraal road, they said he already went to the hospital. Everyone said that everything was okay. I didn’t know that he was going to die.”
According to police, while the investigation continues, they have still not been able to ascertain a motive for Williams’ murder. But the family believes that his alias, Southie, could have led to his demise.

“I would say maybe his name that he is carrying. Of this crime that is happening, he was carrying a bad name; that Southie name. That didn’t match him.”

“So because of association they took his life?”
Voice of: Sister of Murder Victim
“Well I don’t even know if it is associated of this gang thing that’s going on. But to my thing, I would say it is about his name and the area cause his name matches the area so I wouldn’t even say what about it. We never think that anything like this mi wah happen to my bredda because he neva ina them gang world; he mi ina the family world. He dah no part of this gang weh di happen, but maybe dehn just want ker he too fi this gang violence thing weh di happen.”
